DCI Announces Latest Staff Promotions

SEATTLE, Wash. – April 15, 2021 -- DCI Engineers is pleased to announce the promotion of the following staff to their new roles.

Manuel Aldaco Lopez, PE, SE, has been promoted to Senior Project Manager in the Los Angeles office. Since joining DCI, he has become an expert with mixed-use and concrete constructed projects. Manuel is currently supporting engineering efforts for senior living, office building, mixed-use podium, and adaptive reuse projects throughout California. He is an active member of several in-house technical committees, such as bridge design, foundations & shoring, design load, steel & aluminum, mass timber, and existing building & demolition. Manuel is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, National Council of Structural Engineers Association, and the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California.

TJ Bolser, PE, has been promoted to Project Manager in the Spokane office. Since joining the firm, he has diversified his engineering experience by supporting higher education, multi-family residential, hospitality, commercial, healthcare, mixed-use, and warehouse projects. Contractors and subcontractors recognize the quality of his service and rely on his technical assessments. TJ’s current project management role has led him to supporting the 101 W. Roy project in Seattle and the Pinecroft Northwest Mutual project in Spokane Valley.

Joye Chanez, PE, has been promoted to Senior Project Manager in the Irvine office. She has elevated her leadership skills and become a recognized engineering expert to her network of clients and subcontractors. Her specialty in tenant improvement, mixed-use and residential projects in both Washington and California has led her to current responsibilities with the 111 Independence in Menlo Park, California; 3090 South Bascom in San Jose, California; and the One DeHaro tenant improvement project in San Francisco. She contributed her management and engineering skills to the award-winning Cedar Speedster project in Seattle, Washington. Joye is co-chair of DCI’s in-house tenant improvement committee as well as a member of other technical committees, such as existing buildings & demolition, steel & aluminum, mass timber and wood.

TJ Hamad, PE, has been promoted to Project Manager in the Seattle office. Since joining DCI, TJ has supported numerous multi-family residential, podium, and multi-level warehouse projects throughout Washington, California, and Illinois. He is an active member of in-house technical committees focused on cold form steel, concrete, foundations & shoring, masonry, steel & aluminum, and wood design.

Jessica Martinez, PE, has been promoted to Project Manager in the Austin office. She has elevated her technical expertise and become a go-to resource for low carbon concrete and post tensioned concrete design. Jessica co-chairs the firm’s in-house technical committees for sustainability. She supported the design and construction of numerous hospitality, multi-family residential, and mixed-use commercial projects. Jessica’s current project management responsibilities include the Mueller Office & Garage (Phase I & II) and 518 Pleasant Valley in Austin, Texas.

Stephen Matkin, PE, has been promoted to Senior Project Manager in the Spokane office. He coordinated dozens of civil projects throughout Spokane, the greater Spokane area, and Idaho. Over the years, Stephen refined his market specialty with schools and commercial land development by strengthening partnerships with local school districts, jurisdictions, clients, and subcontractors. His notable projects include Ridgeline High School in Liberty Lake, Washington; Mead Performing Arts and Athletic Venue in Mead, Washington; Selkirk Middle School in Ione, Washington; and Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane.

Julie Reed has been promoted to Payroll Manager in the Seattle office. Since joining DCI, her responsibilities have evolved to maintaining ADP payroll information and tax calculations for staff in all 13 offices. She is an advocate of the firm’s diverse benefit package which requires understanding the different tax structures associated with each state. Julie collaborates with the accounting firm responsible for annual 401K reviews. Leadership relies on Julie’s cohesive data reports generated from VantagePoint (enterprise software) and her calculation estimates to evaluate annual budget goals. Julie is a member of the American Payroll Association.

Sam Shastany, PE, has been promoted to Project Manager in the Spokane office. Since joining DCI’s civil department, he advanced his technical knowledge about regional earthwork and stormwater compliance, and increased his AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency. Sam supported site preparation work for K-12 schools, multi-family residential, commercial, and healthcare projects. He soon took on project management responsibilities, most notably for Lewis and Clark High School, Spokane Gun Club, and Whitman County Transportation Co-op in Pullman, Washington.

Melissa Sibley, PE, has been promoted to Senior Project Manager in the Austin office. Since joining DCI, she increased her interface with clients, local school districts, and AEC professionals. Melissa is known for her design expertise in K-12, student housing, multi-family residential, and hospitality projects. She contributes to in-house technical committees focused on concrete, existing buildings & demolition, sustainability, and wood. Melissa demonstrated quality project management for numerous built environments, such as the Austin Independent School District’s Bear Creek Elementary, Bowie High School, and Hummingbird Mixed-Use projects.
