DCI’s Golf Tournament Brings Summer Camp Fun to Newcastle

A day at Camp Wanna-Putt raises over $98,000 for Washington State Non-Profit

On August 22, DCI staff, clients and industry partners took part in the DCI Camp Wanna-Putt Golf Tournament at the Golf Club at Newcastle in Newcastle, Washington. Players came ready for summer camp, finding each hole filled with fun summer camp activities, drinks and snacks. There were s’mores, hot dogs, friendship bracelets, campfires, archery and so much more.

Thanks to our generous campers, who played their hearts out in a scramble-style format on Newcastle’s two courses, overlooking downtown Bellevue, Lake Washington and Seattle, we raised $98,000 for the non-profit Akin. Formerly known as Childhaven, Akin works to break the cycle of abuse and neglect that hundreds of disadvantaged children face throughout Washington. Our ongoing partnership with Akin brings us great pride, and we hope it brings those same feelings to our players and sponsors alike.

We couldn’t make this happen without our amazing sponsors: CBIZ; SilverEdge; Blazing Bagels; Albrecht Birkenbuel; USI Kibble & Prentice; BRPH; PCL Construction; The Pro Shop; Graphite Design Group; Sierra Construction Company; BCRA; GeoEngineers; Bayley Construction; Brown & Brown Insurance; Build Group; Fenagh Engineering; Gensler; Hayre McElroy & Associates; Jackson | Main Architecture; JTM Construction; Lydig Construction; MG2; Ryan Companies; Swinerton; Synergy Construction & Development; Terracon; Simpson Strong-Tie; and The Wide Format Company. Sponsors brought their A-game, making their golf holes feel like fun summer camp sites with awesome activities, drinks and food offered to the players that swung by!

We wrapped up camp with a dinner, raffle and live auction, helping raise even more money for Akin that will support families in Washington. It’s always an honor to bring our AEC community together to support such a great cause and to have such a wonderful time doing so!

Thank you to everyone who came, played and made this a summer to remember! We can’t wait to see everyone next year!
