“Seeing the process go full circle is what makes this profession so rewarding. You start with a concept, idea or simple sketch and see that take shape and come out of the ground.”

It wasn’t long after Jon graduated from Montana State University that he realized how hands-on his job was going to be – he cut his teeth on seismic design when, as a new hire at DCI, he was able to work on a major seismic retrofit of several buildings at his alma mater.

Since then, Jon has focused on heavy timber and steel construction projects, both new and existing, all across Montana and beyond. Known for his creativity and problem-solving, he was tasked to balance two 500,000-lb. concrete pieces that would lean against one another like playing cards for the beautiful and challenging Structures of Landscape installation at Tippet Rise Art Center.

Jon is a member of the firm’s mass timber and steel committees and is an active member of the Structural Engineers Association of Montana.
