It’s not what people expect in an assisted living community, and that’s what I love about it. I think it’s the next generation of senior housing. I think we’re leading the nation in terms of innovation."
A Lifetime In One Neighborhood: Victorian-style assisted living on Seattle’s Queen Anne Hill
The 128-unit Aegis at Rodgers Park is nestled in Seattle’s affluent Queen Anne neighborhood. For longtime Queen Anne residents, there is the option to remain in the area to be close to family and friends. The three-story building complex has a common area with tall windows overlooking Rodgers Park’s soccer field where family and team sport gatherings are held regularly. Amenities and common areas feature Victorian-theme interior décor. Memory care facilities include architectural treatments to outdoor patio walls.
DCI consulted on the project’s shoring and foundation design so that construction could proceed along a graded hillside. The careful shoring protected an established neighborhood tree, secured the Rodgers Park playing field, and nearby school property. For the signature rooftop dome, the engineering team designed the glulam beam framing system and selected the bolt connections. The team also devised the slab and column layout for the basement level; shear wall and transfer beam arrangements; the roof framing; mild reinforcement plan; and other construction support expertise.
