Concrete Reservoir: Water tank designed for seismic forces
DCI Engineers designed a 1 million gallon, partially buried, circular water reservoir (86’ diameter x 26’ tall). To minimize water leakage through the floor of the tank, post-tensioned concrete construction was utilized. The roof structure consisted of pre-cast beams and columns supporting hollow-core planks to help with the project construction schedule. For analysis, DCI prepared a 3D finite element analysis (FEA) model to aid in analyzing the dynamic sloshing forces produced by water during a simulated seismic event.
