Placentia’s Veterans village is a 50-unit, three-story apartment building that helps transition unhoused veterans in Orange County to permanent housing. The building is certified LEED Gold because of the environmentally sustainable practices and materials used on the project. DCI Engineers designed the building with wood framing and pre-fab wood trusses at the roof, and used steel wrapped in a wood-wrap on the balcony posts and awnings for weather proofing.
The building has many amenities for Orange County’s veterans and their families, including a community garden and computer room. The complex also has room for one live-in staffer, who will help run the village programs, including vocational support, leisure skills, community events, gardening workshops, as well as case management for tenants.
