Moxy Hotel - San Diego

Stylishly Millennial: Marriott boutique brand to attract Gaslamp District visitors

The nine-story Moxy Hotel in San Diego’s Gaslamp District will be a Marriott boutique hotel brand targeting millennial travelers who seek stylish accommodations at an attractive price. Once construction is complete, the hotel will include 126 guest rooms, a bar/restaurant, fitness center, and lounge. Moxy Hotel will have a below-grade parking level with 38 stalls. There will also be a penthouse level for rooftop mechanical equipment.

DCI Engineers is the Engineer of Record who provided foundation, mild reinforcing, roof, penthouse, slab, and post-tensioned concrete plans, as well as connection details for the building’s foundation, concrete columns, concrete basement walls, concrete shear walls, and steel. The engineering team formulated the Moxy Hotel’s basis of design which comprises of special reinforced concrete shear walls as the lateral force resisting system, plus mild reinforced and PT floor systems. The engineering team attended site visits to verify compliant rebar and tendon installation before concrete pours. DCI is currently providing construction support services for the project team for a December 2018 targeted completion.
