North Mason Regional Fire Authority’s new headquarters includes a state-of-the-art training center, administration offices, an eight-vehicle bay fire station, and living quarters for 10 on-call firefighters. The facility is now next to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Emergency Services. Since the project was a progressive design build, the project team discussed building layout ideas prior to drawing development. DCI’s structural team designed the foundation and framing system for the one-story facility. The fire station’s roof includes two steel beams spanning 77 feet to accommodate truck bays.
DCI’s civil team prepared the property for new construction and provided economical solutions. They consulted on site demolition, grading, stormwater, erosion control, sidewalk improvements, and utility connections. The fire department installed an on-site septic system. DCI recommended installing a meter for one of the site’s fire hydrants used for training so that the fire station can keep records of increased water use.
