An office environment can have a tremendous impact on behavior. The challenge in designing The Terry Thomas was to design a place-specific, environmentally responsible workplace that would enhance occupant health and productivity while reflecting the eco-friendly ethos of its inhabitants."
Designing a Natural and Creative Work Atmosphere: Engineering a LEED® Platinum office building in South Lake Union
DCI Engineers provided the structural and civil engineering design for this four-story office building in Seattle, Washington. This work space has four levels of above grade commercial space and two levels of below grade parking. This building also includes retail and restaurant space on the ground level as well as a shower area to encourage bicycle use. The office building is in a location that will serve the building tenants with various transportation options and is within walking distance to an abundance of other conveniences. The project features a stairway and other components unique to the LEED® program such as above grade framing consisting of exposed composite castellated beams with conventional metal decking.
