Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital

This new behavioral health hospital will help Washingtonians get the continuum of care services they need.”

Community Safety Net: New industry-leading hospital serves more patients

The Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital is a newly constructed 120-inpatient bed facility built on MultiCare Health Care’s Allenmore campus. The two-story hospital now offers enhanced services and programs for a larger customer base in Pierce County, South King County, and surrounding areas. The design and construction team chose a composite slab-on-metal deck structural system to increase speed of erection and meet the design schedule. The design is well-suited for durable patient rooms and flexible office programming for the hospital.

DCI Engineers designed the primary lateral and gravity systems for the hospital. The lateral seismic force resisting system is a system of well-distributed special concentric braced frames utilizing pipe braces located around the perimeter of the building and at select interior locations. The above-grade structural steel floor framing is supported by composite metal deck, steel wide flange beams and girders, and wide flange columns. The roof framing is a series of open web steel joists and steel girders.
